Optic Gaming (OG) and Team EnVyUs (NV) both went 3-0 in their opening rounds on the first day of the HCS Pro League summer series. The former defeated Ronin while the latter took down Luminosity Gaming (LG) with relative ease.

Splyce (SPY) was another victor, taking on Evil Geniuses (EG) in what was perhaps the most exciting round of the day. EG forced it to game five with a powerful 100-22 Strongholds win on The Rig, but SPY came back to take the final game of Slayer on Coliseum with a score of 50-42. SPY Shotzy was a power player throughout the series, but was particularly dangerous in the final game where he picked up eight power weapon kills.

EG had a chance to redeem themselves, however, in their second round versus Luminosity Gaming (also in their second round). The series went to four games, with EG pulling out an exciting CTF win to take game four and the series. EG Tapping Buttons put on an impressive performance in that game, picking up a triple kill before picking up the flag and driving it home for the win.

In game three, EG came back from nearly a 20-point deficit in Strongholds and ended up winning 100-94 with a triple cap at the end of the game.

LG’s sole game win for the day came in game two of the series, a 50-37 Slayer victory over EG on Plaza. LG Tripppey put on an incredible show, pulling out 16 kills and 14 assists while only giving up 8 deaths. It was EG Tapping Buttons, however, who had the play of the game with a sneaky hop up to Cinema Loft for for a backslap kill of an LG player who had the overshield.

Overall, a great evening of Halo. You can catch day 2 tomorrow on Twitch or Beam. The action begins with Team Liquid versus Splyce at 4:30 p.m. PT.
